This occurs at a time when many countries, most notably the United States, shy away from engaging with Russia due to the latter’s invasion of Ukraine.
President Ruto stated in an interview with BBC that he would investigate all options in an effort to control the rising cost of fuel, which has put a lot of strain on Kenyans since the fuel subsidy was eliminated.
“All options are available to us as a country. East Africa would be a good option, but Kenya is what we are going to be focusing on,” The Head of State said.
“I am now going to move on to the agenda of making sure that we have government-to-government relationships that will progressively now begin the journey to bring the prices of fuel down,” President Ruto said.
The president went on to declare that Kenya will work closely with other countries in the area in order to establish a seamless financial system and improve the lives of people in East Africa.
