Two Nigerian citizens have been condemned to a combined 40 years in prison by the Kasoa Ofaakor Circuit Court, which is presided over by His Worship Ebenezer Osei Darko, for robbing a mobile money vendor in broad daylight at Kasoa New Market Junction in the Central Region.
After a Mobile Money dealer was robbed of GH11,800 on Tuesday, May 17, it was claimed that two armed robbers had been detained by the Kasoa Divisional Police Command.
Bright Okwara and Ferdinand Obi, the two thieves, carried out that crime after the victim had withdrawn the money from a Kasoa bank.
After the victim withdrew the money from the bank, two Nigerian nationals were riding a motorcycle and watching his every move, according to Detective Sargent Addai Boamah, who testified in court.
The suspects followed the victim from Kasoa New Market to Market Junction, where they robbed him, according to Detective Boamah.
Despite the fact that the suspects were successful in stealing the victim, he claimed that he pursued them on his motorcycle, crashed into them, and caught them.
His Honor Ferdinand Obi and Bright Okwara were each given a 20-year sentence with hard labor by Ebenezer Osei Darko.
In addition, the judge praised Detective Sergeant Addai Boamah in spite of objections from the suspects’ attorneys.
Hassan Nuru Yaro, the victim, expressed happiness upon the court’s conclusion that justice had been served.
Additionally, he praised Detective Sergeant Addai Boamah and Judge Ebenezer Osei Darko for their efforts in keeping the suspects in custody till trial.
