Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been released and found not guilty by the Abuja Court of Appeal.
On Thursday, the Court of Appeal upheld the IPOB leader’s appeal.
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu’s lawyer and a human rights activist, verified the development in a post on his Facebook page.
Ejiofor wrote, “Appeal allowed, Oyendu Mazi Nnamdi KANU, discharged and acquitted. We have won!.”
Kanu requested release and acquittal in his appeal, which was dated April 29 and was designated CA/ABJ/CR/625/2022.
After being initially charged on December 23, 2015, the IPOB leader was later released on bail on April 25, 2017.
