The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has now officially explained why he has been wed to numerous women for several weeks.
Remember that the Ooni, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has drawn attention due to his string of marriages, particularly now that he is getting married to Princess Temitope Adesegun for the sixth time on October 24.
Nine months after Prophetess Seyi Naomi declared on Instagram that she was divorcing the Ooni of Ife, in September 2022, he welcomed Mariam Anako, an Ebira-born queen, to his castle on the island of Ife. He married six more ladies in a span of three weeks after welcoming Mariam.
Mariam Anako and Dr. Elizabeth Akinmuda were married by the queen in September.
He wedded Queen Ashley, Queen Ronke Ademiluyi, and Queen Tobi Phillips in October.
He would have married Princess Temitope Adesegun six times.
The Ooni has finally explained why he wedded Mariam Anako and the other people as he celebrates his 48th birthday and seventh coronation anniversary.
The Ooni explained that he tried making some changes but he couldn’t. Maybe referring to his decision to keep to only one queen and have concubines, the monarch said of the traditional heritage of Ile Ife, “This institution is bigger than me, beyond me. People in this palace are more than 800, they are close to a thousand. There are some people who have been living in this palace for more than 60 years, while some have lived here for more than 80 years old. Some people are over 100 years old in this palace.
If I had my way, I tried to challenge it but it blew in my face but thank God I’m still alive. It’s an institution that is rich in heritage, culture, and tradition.”
A medical professional from the state of Ekiti, however, has recently submitted an application to become the Ooni of Ife’s sixth bride.
Bella Nifemi, a medical professional, submitted a request to the ruler.
If chosen as his wife, she pledged to uphold Twitter and the Ekiti community.
“This is my submission to be Ooni’s 8th wife. I’m also a Medical Doctor and I will represent Twitter and Ekiti community well”.
