On November 9, an attack occurred in Maiduguri, Borno State, on the presidential campaign convoy of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate and former vice president Atiku Abubakar.
On Wednesday, the opposition party’s presidential campaign tour arrived in Borno, a state under the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The vehicles in Atiku’s convoy were vandalised at Maiduguri’s Ramat Square by thugs.
Dino Malaye, a spokesman for the Atiku Campaign, confirmed the incident and accused Borno’s ruling party of being responsible. According to him, more than 70 persons have been admitted to hospitals as a result of the incident.
“They wanted to prevent us from holding the campaign, as we speak, 74 people were injured and hospitalised. Several vehicles were vandalised by APC thugs.”he said
The APC is yet to react to Melaye’s allegation.
