When her colleagues legally become lawyers on Friday, Ghanaian YouTuber Elorm Ababio, often known as Ama Governor, won’t be called to the Ghana Bar.
This is true despite the fact that she successfully completed the professional law programme, passing all of her examinations and doing well in the interview.
She was scheduled to be called on Friday, but instead, the General Legal Council Secretary informed her of the decision in a letter.
A complaint is said to have been received from a “concerned citizen” alleging that she ‘lacks good character.’
A video recording of her YouTube content said to show her allegedly engaged in “conduct unbecoming of an application to be called to the Bar” has been attached to the complaint.
According to JoyNews a three-member team to look into the allegation has reportedly been formed by the General Legal Council, according to sources. While the investigation is being conducted, her application to the bar has been put on hold.
The General Legal Council’s judgement has been widely criticized, and this development has generated discussion on Twitter.
