The Honourable Ntombizanele Zanele Sifuba, Speaker of the Free State Legislature, is depicted in a sex tape that has been carelessly circulated, according to the Nigerian Consulate General in Johannesburg.
The woman is seen engaging in sexual activities while lying on a bed in the video, which is said to have been released by an unidentified Nigerian national.
In a statement released on November 9, 2022, the Nigerian representative urged the media to hold off drawing any quick or firm judgments about the suspect’s nationality.
The statement claims that this could endanger the lives and property of law-abiding Nigerians living in South Africa.
The video, according to the Consulate General, is a flagrant infraction of South Africa’s laws prohibiting gender-based violence (GBV) and online harassment.
“The Consulate General therefore reassures host authorities of its full support and cooperation towards the identification, tracking, arrest and prosecution of any Nigerian believed to be responsible or complicit in the mindless circulation of the offensive sex video,” the statement read.
“It also appeals to the public to desist from further circulation of the offensive sex video and negative profiling of foreign nationals based on the alleged acts of criminal-minded individuals.”
