In a Facebook post, lawyer and media personality Afia Pokua offended some social media users by labelling Ghanaians as having “pure hatred” that prevents them from sharing in others’ delight.
In what has been characterized as an intentional effort to mock Ghanaians by comparing them to Nigerians, her allegedly innocent article has drawn criticism.
“Nigerians can praise and celebrate their own. These two Nigerian couple married this weekend in the US and UK but if it had been my people, enka PURE HATRED nkoaa as if it is their money. PhD in ‘Pull Him Down’ fuo,”
Afia Pokua responded to two popular wedding videos in a Facebook post from November 27.
Social media users have been flooding two prominent figures in Nigeria with congratulations after they wed their sweethearts.
The first was the marriage of ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star Porsha Williams and Nigerian businessman Simon Guobadia, who took place on November 25 in Atlanta.
Rita Dominic, a Nigerian actress, wed Dr. Fidelis Anosike, the creator of the Folio Media Group, on November 26 in North Yorkshire, England. There were well-known figures from their nation present.

The newlyweds have received congratulations from celebrities, admirers, and well-wishers, but according to Afia Pokua.
People who disagreed with her claim asked her to look at the positive aspects of life instead of criticizing Ghana’s fine people based on her encounters with a few “bad ones.”
