Preaching, gambling, and shady business have all been outlawed in the nation’s brand-new trains, according to the state-run passenger rail company (Prasa) of South Africa.

According to local media reports, Prasa spokesperson Lilian Mofokeng defended the action as an effort to bring rationality to the public transportation system.

According to Mofokeng, the prohibition will make sure that “other travellers on board cannot be subjected to one particular behavioural system of any other group.”

Additionally, it will improve cleaning and passenger safety onboard.

“We are doing this in an effort to ensure that there is the free passage of movement for our commuters, so that they are kept clean and safe,” she said.

Preachers and street vendors have opposed the new policy.
