Wendy Shay, a Ghanaian artist, recently chastised Ghanaians for illegally downloading songs from the internet, leading songwriters to lose millions in streaming income.
Wendy Shay claimed in an interview with Nana Romeo of Accra FM that she, like many Ghanaian singers, wants to earn streaming income for their songs owing to online downloads.
She also stated that the exorbitant cost of internet connectivity frequently forces music fans to download music illegally.
“We need to educate ghanaians against illegal downloads,” She said. “Unlike countries in Eastern Africa, the cost of data in Ghana is quite expensive and often discourages people from streaming songs online.”
