After it was revealed that American rapper Meek Mill had gotten entry to the Jubilee House, had the pleasure of seeing the president, and even had the opportunity to make some of a music video, Nigerians on Twitter had a field day making fun of Ghanaians.
“Ghana had to go so low just to sell Ghana. Given Meek Mill a pass to shoot a music video in their presidential house “Jubilee”. Thats some disrespect man. Meek Mill can’t try that in the White House. E nor fit try am for Aso Rock if he eventually visit naija,” a tweep with the handle @Olise_Emmanuel posted.
Aso Rock is Nigeria’s presidential residence; it is compared to Jubilee House. The majority of Nigerians think without a doubt that Meek Mill will be lucky to be permitted in the Villa at all.
This is the most recent exchange in the ongoing social media debate between Ghana and Nigeria about which nation makes the best jollof rice.
Other events that have sparked discussion on social media, particularly Twitter, include Ghana’s decision to return to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Twitter’s decision to open offices there.
What transpired between Meek Mill and Ghana’s social media?
Meek Mill, Jubilee House and White House have been in Ghana’s Twitter trends since January 8, 2022 when the musician released a promo for his new video.
The footage was captured late last year during his meeting with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House when he visited the city for a concert.
The almost degradation of the presidency, according to social media users, infuriated them for moral and security reasons.
Meek Mill can be seen at the presidency in a variety of locations, including the facade, the main hallways, the main conference hall (at a point directly behind the presidential podium), and afterwards in a sitting area, rapping.
Since the controversy on social media, Meek Mill has removed the contentious video and issued an unequivocal apologies to Ghanaians and the president for the uproar he had generated.
