On Monday, January 16, President Buhari will leave for the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to accept the “Africa Award for Strengthening Peace.”
The award will be given to the President for his leadership role in supporting peace on the continent by regular interventions, advice, and a conciliatory posture, according to a statement issued by Femi Adesina, Special Advisor to the President on Media and Publicity.
The presidential spokeswoman mentioned that the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum established the prise in 2014 to suggest fresh approaches to embrace inclusive citizenship and advance peace. He continued by saying that the President will speak at the Third Forum of the African Conference for Peace and focus on the African Peace Process.
He stated that Geoffrey Onyeama, the minister of foreign affairs, Bashir Salihi Magashi, the minister of defense, the national security adviser, Mohammed Monguno, and Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the director general of the national intelligence agency, would all be accompanying the president.
