Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) Chairperson Jean Mensa has met with US Ambassador to Ghana Virgina E. Palmer.
The purpose of the gathering was to talk about Ghana’s national elections in 2024 as well as the district elections in 2023.
The District Assembly Elections for this year are anticipated to be held by the EC, with new assemblymen and unit committee members taking office.
The general elections, which will pick a new president and members of parliament as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-term Addo’s ends in 2024, are meant to act as a test run for those elections.
Following 2020, Jean Mensa will preside over national elections for the second time. These elections produced a number of difficulties, but the recent discussion with the US Ambassador is likely to have resolved them in time for the upcoming polls.
The election commission will meet with the US ambassador to ensure “free,” “fair,” and “non-violent” elections.
However, the date for the district elections this year has not yet been announced by the EC.
