For the 2023 football season, the Ghana Football Association has awarded FIFA badges to 20 male and female referees and assistant referees.
The top-ranked referees for the year under evaluation receive badges from FIFA for the entire calendar year.
Based on their performance the year prior and during the FIFA Test, the Classification and Assessment Committee assigns a ranking to each nation’s referees each year. FIFA then deducts a percentage based on the quantity of referees each member Association receives.
The lists comprise one (1) FIFA VAR Referee, six (6) male referees, six (6) male assistant referees, four (4) female referees, and four (4) female assistant referees.
The centre referees are Julian Nii Akwa Nunoo, Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea, Charles Benle Bulu, Adaare Abdul Latif, Benjamin Kwame Sefah, and Latif Abdul Qadir.
The assistants are Roland Nii Dodoo Addy, Kwasi Acheampong Brobbey, Paul Kwodwo Atimaka, Patrick Papala, Emmanuel Dolagbenu, and Tijani Mohammed.
Juliet Appiah, Joyce Obenewah Appiah, Barikisu Salifu, and Rita Nkansah Boateng are the female referees.
Alice Farizua Chakule, Doris Essumang Darko, Mary Tei, and Patricia Kyeraa are the female assistant referees.
On Tuesday, January 24, 2023, in Accra, the Ghana Football Association Secretariat hosted the badge presentation.
Christine Zigah, chair of the Referees Appointments Committee, and other committee members attended the presentation with referees manager Alex Kotey.
The referees pledged to distinguish themselves honourably when called upon to officiate games in the nation and on the continent, expressing their sincere gratitude to the Ghana Football Association for the ongoing endeavour to strengthen their capacity.
The association would keep spending money on equipment and training to advance refereeing across the nation.
