CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Nigerian Police Force’s spokesperson, has responded to the viral video showing an Abuja pastor carrying an AK-47 while giving a sermon on February 12 in his church.

a recording of the cleric People started chatting on social media about Pastor Uche Aigbe, the presiding pastor of House on The Rock Abuja, after he preached while toting an AK-47. Some of his church followers who spoke out for him claimed that he only carried the weapons as an example. No one in the church was afraid, they claimed, and the weapon wasn’t loaded.

However, several Nigerians objected, claiming that regardless of his motivations, it was against the law for him to carry a weapon.

Adejobi responded via his Twitter account and stated that the FCT Commissioner of Police has received the footage. No one other than a law enforcement officer is allowed to carry a weapon, he said, so the clergyman will have a case to answer.
