To replace Virgil Abloh, who served in the position for three years prior to passing away, Pharrell Williams has been chosen the next creative director of menswear for Louis Vuitton.
Williams’ debut collection will be displayed at Men’s Fashion Week in Paris in June, according to the upscale company, which confirmed the news.
Since Abloh’s untimely passing at the age of 41 in November 2021, the position has been vacant. Abloh, who assumed the position in 2018, kept his private battle with illness a secret for the majority of his time working for Louis Vuitton.
Pietro Beccari, the chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, expressed his pleasure at Pharrell’s return in a statement. Williams previously collaborated on jewellery and sunglasses lines with Louis Vuitton in 2008.
His innovative thinking outside of the realm of fashion will surely guide Louis Vuitton into a brand-new and extremely interesting chapter, said Beccari.
