John Dramani Mahama, a former president, has publicly announced his desire to compete for president in the general election of 2024 on the platform of the opposing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

On Tuesday, Mr. Mahama met with the Minority caucus in his Cantonment office and made the official announcement.

As flagbearer, John Dramani has received the entire support of all NDC Lawmakers in Parliament.

Former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, former NDC Campaign Manager for the 2020 general elections Professor Joshua Alabi, and former Minister of Communication Kofi Totobi Quakyi were also present at the meeting.

In the upcoming days, it is anticipated that the former president would make a public announcement.

John Dramani Mahama received a petition on Monday from the heads of four unions, including the Motor Riders Union, Real Drivers Union, Concerned Drivers Union, and Abossey Okai Spare-part Dealers Association, urging him to run for president.

The unions believe that John Dramani Mahama would be the best candidate to address the country’s present economic issues if he were to be elected president.

Ghanaians want a change in leadership that will lead to a turnaround of the economy, according to Setsofia Quashie, the Public Relations Officer of the Motor Riders Association, who delivered the petition to the former President’s office.

NDC Greater Accra Chairmen endorse Mahama; promise to pay his GH¢500K filing fee

Constituency Former President John Dramani Mahama has already received the support and endorsement of National Democratic Congress (NDC) chairmen in the Greater Accra Area, should he decide to run in the party’s presidential primary.

During a courtesy call on Mr. Mahama, the Greater Accra Chairmen Caucus requested that he lead the party to the 2024 elections.

Only President John Mahama can lead and lead the NDC to victory in the 2024 elections, according to the 33 chairmen.

The caucus, led by Isaac Lamptey, chairman of Dome Kwabenya, also pledged to fund and pay the GH500,000 filing fee for Mr. Mahama to run in the NDC primary.

The NDC youth in the Volta Region want John Dramani Mahama to run unchallenged in the party’s pre-election contest for flag bearer.

The group believes that there “is no need for flagbearer elections, but instead the party should directly endorse the former president as flagbearer of the party for the 2024 presidential elections.”
