Rev. Anthony Kwadwo Boakye, the founder and head of Resurrection Power New Generation Church (RPNGC), has passed away.
The famed man of God passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at the Korlebu Teaching Hospital, according to a Graphic online report. Since then, a statement from his church has confirmed the development.
After having a stroke in November 2021, Rev. Boakye became bedridden. He then sought out significant medical attention at private clinics before eventually being referred to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
On February 22, 2023, when word of his passing spread, a large group of churchgoers gathered at his church’s location in Ngleshie Amanfro, next to the Kasoa toll booth.
As you may remember, Rev. Anthony Kwadwo Boakye in November 2022 told his church members that he died and was resurrected after five days.
“I am a living testimony…I have died and resurrected… Because of my strong faith in Him [Jesus], He resurrected me, when I died. If you have not heard it before, yes, I died. My body was kept in the house for five days. Here I am, alive and kicking,” he said in a video message to his church.
He emphasised that he had returned to life as a result of telling his “father,” Jesus, that he was not prepared to pass away.
“I told God that my time was not up, so he should send me back to the earth. I was told to come back because my time was not up. If you have faith in Jesus, you will resurrect from the dead just as He did, when He died,” he added.
Early in the year, Rev. Boakye warned some members of the Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana Police Service sternly for refusing to take him to the hospital when he was ill.
While he was ill, he became embroiled in one of the most recent controversies when he publicly feuded with his ex-wife and her family.
The pastor claimed that he witnessed an intentional attempt by his wife and her brother, Rev. Johnson Kwasi Oware, to make fun of him in public.
“He has insulted me on three occasions, to which I did not respond. This sickness that inflicted me, I reverse it to you and your children for the rest of your life. Akwasi, you should take my sickness for the rest of your life.
“Yaa Asantewaa, take my sickness, you and your children. Have it for the rest of your life. You are seeking to disgrace me,” Rev Boakye said while addressing his church members from a remote location virtually.
The church leader’s reaction came after a disagreement over church funds between his wife and the church’s authorities.
On Sunday, August 28, 2022, the conflict for control between Yaa Asantewaa and the Resurrection Power New Generation Church’s leaders reached a new level.
Surveillance footage from the August 28, 2022, service at the church’s Kasoa headquarters shows the wife hitting some church officials.
The video shows Mrs. Boakye approaching three guys who are allegedly church leaders in order to confront them as the money was being tallied.
The preacher’s wife has since started her own church in Kumasi.
