The Wa West District Hospital’s theater lamps have been out of commission for approximately two years.

So, doctors are left with little choice but to assist them in performing surgery on patients by using cell phone torches. Work at the theatre in Wechiau is being hampered, according to the medical superintendent of the Wa West District Hospital.

Dr. Benjamin Ameyuori said, “It is greatly disrupting service because the lamp is the second eye for both the nurses and doctors when we are undertaking an operation.

According to Dr. Benjamin Ameyuori, the development has had a substantial impact on the facility’s ability to provide healthcare, as reported by Upper West Regional Reporter Rafiq Salam.

The doctor described a situation in which his team had to improvise once more during surgery on a patient who had suffered a gastric perforation, a full-thickness lesion to the stomach’s wall.

And in order to prevent the stomach contents from spilling into the entire cavity, the opening had to be sealed. In order to see well and complete the surgery, I had to utilize two [mobile phone] lights, one on each side.

Although the medical personnel claim to have shown their dedication to preserving lives, little can be done without assistance.

“We are requesting assistance from outside agencies. We made sacrifices to come here and provide the finest service we can for the people because this is an underprivileged town, he continued.
