On Thursday, March 23, the protest in Nasarawa state entered its third day.
During the March 18 governorship election, ladies in Nasarawa State are shown protesting while completely exposed in viral footage uploaded online.
Women protested in the streets after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that Governor Abdullahi Sule, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, had won the Nasarawa State governorship election.
They protested because INEC proceeded to declare a winner of the governorship race despite there being disagreement over the results from the state capital’s Gayam and Ciroma electoral wards.
While demonstrating, some of the women wore black clothing. Some completely disrobed and scowled their resentment in front of the camera.
The women claimed that they did not cast a ballot for Governor Sule and that he forced himself on them and rigged the election in his favour.
They chanted songs as they marched with placards that had inscriptions like, “Stop the conspiracy against our people,” “INEC should reverse the declaration now,” and “Our Vote must count. Ombugadu won.”
Online users are already discussing the demonstration after watching videos of it.
According to Professor Tanko Ishaya, the State Returning Officer for the governorship election, Governor Sule of the APC received 347,209 votes, beating out David Ombugadu of the PDP, who received 283,016 votes.
