According to a report by a UK-based organisation, the daughter of former South African President Jacob Zuma assisted Russia in disseminating information on the conflict in Ukraine.

According to the Centre for Information Resilience, Moscow’s efforts to shift public opinion in South Africa and elsewhere to its side were spearheaded by Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla’s pro-Russian tweets.

With over 237 000 followers, Zuma-Sambudla is a well-known figure on South African Twitter. The accusations received no response from Zuma-Sambdula.

According to Bloomberg on Wednesday, the researchers used the personal nature of the content uploaded on the account, including photos, and discussion of the tweets in South African media as proof that she is the account’s owner.

The West has criticised South Africa for taking a neutral posture on Ukraine.

The US and UK governments, the two biggest arms suppliers to Ukraine, are among the sponsors of the agency that purports to investigate misinformation and violations of human rights.
