Hilda Bassey Effiong, also known as Hilda Baci, a 27-year-old gourmet chef who broke the Guinness record for the longest hours of cooking, has received congratulations from President Muhammadu Buhari.
On Monday, the Akwa Ibom State native smashed the record previously held by Indian chef Lata Tondon.
After 91 hours of cooking already, Hilda will continue cooking for 96 hours in just 6 minutes.
In response, Buhari praised the young chef for turning her talent and enthusiasm into a career in a statement released by his spokesperson, Bashir Ahmed, on Monday.
He praised her for having a restaurant in Lagos that mentors aspiring entrepreneurs and for now being the best cook in the world for resiliency, tenacity, and consistency.
”The antecedents of the restaurateur, who dazzled at the Jollof Face-off Competition, 2021, preparing mouth-watering dishes that won the choice prize, and settled an age-long rivalry with Ghana on which African country should own the trademark for cooking better jollof- rice,” he added.
