This morning, President Buhari addressed Nigerians in his farewell address.
The President, who will transfer authority to Bola Tinubu on May 29, expressed confidence that he will leave office with Nigeria in a better state than when he took office in 2015. After turning over the reins to his successor, Bola Tinubu, on Monday, he also expressed satisfaction with his work thus far as he retired to his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
“I am confident that I am leaving office with Nigeria better in 2023 than in 2015,” Buhari said.
In his first stint office, he took some time to express gratitude to Nigerians who had prayed for him throughout his illness.
Additionally, the President claimed that he made certain difficult choices that were in the “overall good of the country.”
“In the course of revamping the economy, we made some difficult choices, most of which yielded the desired results. Some of the measures led to temporary pain and suffering for which I sincerely apologized to my fellow countrymen, but the measures were taken for the overall good of the country.”
