Any fuel station discovered to be storing gasoline will have its land revoked, according to the Edo state administration.
The country had fuel shortages in numerous areas on Monday, May 29, shortly after President Bola Tinubu declared that fuel subsidies were no longer necessary.
Many Nigerians believed that this would instantly result in an increase in the price of gas. To buy the item, they flocked to gas stations. They were astonished to learn that petrol stations that had previously supplied the product claimed to have run out of stock.
Because many drivers are unable to buy fuel, this has led to confusion across the nation and increased transportation costs.
Osaigbovo Iyoha, the chief of staff for the Edo State Government, declared in a statement that any gas station discovered to be hoarding gasoline will have its licence revoked by the state government.
Read the statement below:
“The attention of Edo State Government has been drawn to the unscrupulous attempt by petrol dealers in the state to hoard fuel and create artificial scarcity and price hike.
As a responsible government that cares for her citizens, we shall resist this economic sabotage by every legal means possible.
To this end, all petrol stations are ordered to immediately resume sales of products to Edo people or risk immediate closure, and possible revocation of their property to enable others who want to do legitimate and respectful business in Edo State come and invest.
We cannot continue to allow extortion of our people in whatever guise.
A word is enough for the wise.
