In the emotionally charged song, Sarkodie candidly expressed his deep affection for Yvonne Nelson but later realized that he may have been just one of many men in her life during that period. Throughout the 3 minutes and 16 seconds of the track, he highlighted his intention to keep that aspect of his life private, but circumstances have compelled him to address the matter after Yvonne Nelson shared a version of the story that favored her.
“I won’t lie, we had a connection. At first, I thought it was more until I got a hint that there were many guys involved. I tried to distance myself, but then you revealed you were pregnant. Despite not being ready, I advised you to keep it. You mentioned that you were focused on your education and needed to complete it, but to this day, I find it hard to believe. I suggested that you let my doctor take care of you, but then you texted me later, saying that your friend had recommended one of the best doctors… So don’t make it seem like I was the one pressuring you for an abortion. Baby girl, don’t test me,” Sarkodie raps on “Try Me.”

However, it appears that the Princess Tyra actress is not accepting Sarkodie’s explanation, as she took to Twitter this morning, June 28, to express her stance. She wrote, “Insults won’t work, Michael. Respect womanhood. I’m glad the world is witnessing your actions and the real you. Young women can learn from this. Your rap may receive applause, but it doesn’t change the truth.”
Yvonne Nelson, an award-winning actress, had previously revealed in a book that she terminated a pregnancy she had with Sarkodie in 2010, following a brief relationship. According to her account, she made this decision due to Sarkodie’s refusal to take responsibility for the child, citing his young age and lack of financial stability at the time.
