In order to facilitate travel between Kenya and the Congo, the abolition of visa requirements was announced by William Ruto, the head of state of Kenya, while on an official visit to Congo-Brazzaville.
President Ruto delivered a message to the assembled members of parliament (deputies and senators) after being welcomed by his counterpart Denis Sassou Nguesso.
He regretted that despite producing only 4% of the world’s glasshouse gas emissions, Africa is a victim of climate change.
The Kenyan president also voiced dismay at the continent’s low-income nations’ staggering 24% GDP debt payments, which are choking them to death.
He also hailed Zlecaf’s arrival, which will aid in reducing barriers and boosting intra-African commerce, which is currently only 17%, compared to 70% in the European Union.
William Ruto announced the elimination of visa requirements for travellers between the Congo and his nation in order to improve travel and commerce.
“We, the Government of Kenya, have already taken the decision that nationals of Congo-Brazzaville will no longer need visas to enter Kenya. This will enable us to increase trade between our two countries. Our peoples, businessmen and others need this”.
In addition to this one agreement, 17 others in the areas of agriculture, livestock, the environment, and tourism were also signed. Geology and the mining industry, diplomatic training, and cooperative promotion are a few examples.
By the end of the year, Kenya Airways between Nairobi and Brazzaville should resume service, according to President Ruto. The airline has ago stopped operating flights to Kinshasa.
