The election of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been confirmed by the court overseen by Justice Haruna Tsammani.
According to the court’s decision, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar failed to demonstrate that the Independent National Electoral Commision (INEC) erred in declaring Tinubu the legitimately chosen candidate by a majority of the valid votes cast in the election on February 25, 2023.
“This petition accordingly lacks merit. I affirm the return of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The parties are to bear their cost.” the court ruled.
Regarding Tinubu’s conviction and the issue of his dual citizenship, the Tribunal once more determined that it lacked competence and should be dismissed.
Atiku Abubakar of the PDP came in second place with a total of 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party finished third with a total of 6,101,533 votes. On March 1, INEC declared Tinubu the winner of the February 25 presidential election.
