A church in Uganda has made history by breaking the previous record for the longest round of applause.
The “Clap For Jesus” event was held by Phaneroo Ministries church members in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, to commemorate the institution’s ninth birthday.
The congregation’s clapping continued for a total of 3 hours and 16 minutes, averaging 88.5 decibels. They had to stay above 80 dB the entire time for the endeavour to be successful.
During this event, 926 participants clapped continuously for three hours and 16 minutes. To make it an official Guinness World Record, “they had to remain above 80 dB for the entire duration.” Guinness World Records said in a statement.
The pastor of the church, Grace Lubega, indicated that “Clap For Jesus” was meant to unite people in a spirit of celebration and appreciation. The celebration was a boisterous one, and stewards made sure that attendees continued to applaud continuously.
The accomplishment was not only seen by those in the room, but it was also livestreamed for a larger audience. To assure the event’s legality, observers from Uganda’s standards office and the national basketball regulating body kept a careful eye on it.
The Ugandan church therefore beat the earlier benchmark of two hours and five minutes, which was held by Clark Stevens and The Festival of Awesomeness in the UK in 2019.
The Phaneroo Ministries church has now won a well-deserved spot in the Guinness World Records for this stunning show of harmony and joy.
