The ECOWAS Bank of Investment and Development (EBID) has recently assessed multiple projects for Togo. This statement was made by the Bank’s president, George Agyekum Donkor, following a board meeting on October 2.
Donkor stated, “Once the projects in Togo are prepared and have undergone the credit evaluation process, Togo will receive an equitable allocation of our resources. We have a roster of projects earmarked for Togo, which are presently under scrutiny. Upon approval by the credit committee, these projects will be implemented for the benefit of Togo.”
Immediately prior to this announcement, the EBID granted approvals for two financings totaling CFA65 billion for Senegal.
In 2022, the Bank allocated $138 million to fund 18 projects in Togo, constituting 6.6% of its net combined commitments in terms of both size and value, as per its activity report for that year.
Among these projects are the reconfiguration and paving of the 60km Katchamba-Sadori section of the N°17 national road, the restoration of the CU9 community road to enhance transportation along the Lomé-Ouagadougou, Blitta – Aouda axis, and the establishment of an Intravenous Fluid Plant in Aveta by DO PHARMA – Togo. Additionally, the EBID had also given the green light last year for partial financing, amounting to $8.1 million, for the extension of the liquefied petroleum gas import terminal of Société Zener, a Togo-based service station constructor and retailer.
The EBID extends its support to both private and public projects within Togo.
