The arrest of Nigerian artist Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, in connection with the passing of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known professionally as MohBad, has sparked a range of reactions.

Naira Marley was apprehended by the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force upon his return to the country on Tuesday night. The spokesperson for the Lagos Police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this development in a statement on Tuesday night.

“Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities,” Hundeyin noted on his former Twitter account late Tuesday.

It’s understood that Naira Marley is expected to cooperate with the police in their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding MohBad’s passing, which has elicited various responses both on and off social media.

Prior to the police statement, Naira Marley had expressed his intent to clear his name and confirmed his return to Nigeria to assist in the investigation into his former signee’s demise.
