A thorough investigation into the assets and financial dealings of the former Ghanaian Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, and her connections in the United States has been launched by the FBI and Ghana’s Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
In a recent social media update on platform X, the OSP stated, “This collaborative effort aims to scrutinize the legality of Ms. Dapaah and her associates’ wealth, particularly in the context of financial transfers between Ghana and the United States.”
The OSP is currently looking into Ms. Dapaah, the former minister of sanitation, for alleged corruption and offences connected to corruption. These accusations came to light after an astounding amount of cash, over $1 million (£813,300), was found at her home. When two domestic workers took this considerable cash, the public learned about it, and Ms. Dapaah herself called the police.
Following a public uproar and legislative enquiries over the source of the funds, Ms. Dapaah resigned from her ministerial position.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor’s ongoing investigation of the former sanitation minister and her husband has reportedly been halted as a result of the former sanitation minister’s recent decision to seek legal action.
Ms. Dapaah continues to vehemently deny all allegations against her.
