After receiving online criticism for a remark it made regarding the most current Israel-Palestine crisis, Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration had to limit comments to its X handle.

In response to the recent escalation of hostilities between Israel and Palestine over the Gaza Strip, the Ministry issued a formal statement declaring its support for Israel.

Over 400,000 X users saw the statement, and it received a lot of critical feedback, leading Ghana to disable the reply feature.

Many Ghanaians flocked to the page to criticise the Ministry, some of whom used foul language against the Ghanaian government.

The Ministry promptly restricted people who might comment to the Tweet on X to those it follows or mentions.
