Visa exemptions for Ghanaians and South Africans with regular passports have been announced by the ministry of foreign affairs and regional integration.
The deal is expected to result in major improvements for passengers between these two countries, the ministry said in a statement.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration wishes to inform the general public that the Republic of Ghana and the Republic of South Africa have entered into an Agreement on a visa waiver regime for holders of ordinary passports,” part of the statement read.
According to the statement, the Visa Waiver Agreement will go into effect on November 1, 2023, which will be a key turning point for Ghanaian and South African diplomatic relations.
According to the rules of this agreement, visitors with regular passports from both countries will no longer need visas for some visits.
“Travelers may transit through, depart from and stay in the territory of both countries for a cumulative period of up to ninety (90) recourse to work. The travelling public is thereby advised to take note,” the statement concluded.
