Russian businesses are welcome to conduct business in Equatorial Guinea, particularly if they are involved in the mining sector.
During discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday in Moscow, President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo made the assurance.
Putin claims that Equatorial Guinea and Russia share a wide range of interests.
“Russian companies are seriously interested in working in Africa in general and in your country. Potential investment opportunities are large. And the capacities of your country for the improvment of these opportunities are also good, mostly in regard to the potential of minerals extraction” said the Russian President.
Obiang Nguema Mbasogo discussed plans to strengthen defense and commercial cooperation ties with Russia while expressing gratitude for the invitation to Moscow.
“When the Russian government promises to send its businessmen to help Africa develop, we can only say: let them come. Equatorial Guinea gladly accepts this proposal” Nguema Mbasogo said.
Commitment was recognised by all sides as the essential phase leading to the development. It is anticipated that the opening of Russia’s embassy in the nation of central Africa before the year ends would further accelerate the development of bilateral relations.
The leader of Equatorial Guinea is the world’s longest-serving head of state. As the current leader of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), Nguema Mbasogo oversees a group of countries that includes Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, São Tomé and Principe, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, the Republic of Congo, and Gabon.
