According to a Ghanaian music executive, Nigerian musicians’ success in garnering multiple Grammy nominations can be attributed to their ability to effectively penetrate the American market.
The music producer stated in the Hitz FM interview that although some Ghanaian artists are more talented than their Nigerian counterparts, they are not as well-known as Nigerians are so boisterous.
Additionally, he said that Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy tried his hardest to secure a Grammy nomination, but was unsuccessful because Nigerians are more well-known and had “bought” out the American market, which he asserts is dominated by money.
