On Monday, December 4, the Accra High Court sentenced her to four years in prison, according to asaaseradio.com.
Aisha Huang, who is accused of assisting illicit mining activities without a license, reentering Ghana after being deported, and engaging in illicit mining operations, has continuously refuted the allegations against her and is currently being held in prison.
Considering Aisha Huang’s year-long confinement during the trial, her defense team argued during the sentencing phase for a fine and deportation.

Aisha Huang was charged by the state, represented by security and intelligence personnel, of being “notorious” for participating in the nationwide unlawful small-scale mining practice known as “galamsey.“
The prosecution claims that Aisha had already fled the nation in order to avoid being arrested in 2017 and that when she returned without authorisation, she immediately started mining illegally again.
Aisha Huang was charged with four crimes: engaging in mining activities without a permit, encouraging illegal mining activity, hiring foreign workers without authorization, and entering Ghana while barred from returning.
