Guinness World Records has officially announced that Afua Asantewaa’s endeavor to establish the record for the longest individual singing marathon did not achieve success.

In a tweet dated Friday, February 23, 2024, the official response stated, “Unfortunately, Afua’s attempt to break the Guinness World Records for the longest singing marathon was not successful. However, we hope she will make another attempt soon. We’ve witnessed how inspirational it has been for her fans.”

Commencing on December 24, Asantewaa aimed to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon and gained widespread attention throughout December in Ghana. Singing continuously for 126 hours and 52 minutes, she initially planned to conclude on December 27 but, after consulting with her team, extended the duration to a continuous five days.

The event unfolded at the Akwaaba Village in Accra, near the Kotoka International Airport, drawing a sizable audience eager to support her and witness a historic moment.

Numerous showbiz personalities, including Nana Ama McBrown, Kwabena Kwabena, Efya, Sista Afia, Afronitaa, Delay, Cina Soul, Clemento Suarez, Akuapem Poloo, Lawyer Nti, Piesie Esther, and OB Amponsah, attended the event, collectively demonstrating their support.

Despite the unsuccessful record attempt, the overall response and commentaries were overwhelmingly positive, with people consistently applauding and encouraging Asantewaa to persist in her impressive endeavor.
