President Akufo-Addo has revealed that the government will introduce a Legislative Instrument in Parliament soon, aiming to forbid the export of raw bauxite. This decision aligns with Ghana’s commitment to enhance its industrialization efforts.
In his State of the Nation Address to the 8th Parliament on February 27, President Akufo-Addo outlined the implementation of the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation’s (GIADEC) Four Project Agenda.
With Projects 1 and 2 already in progress and the recent agreement for Project 3, the President emphasized the forthcoming presentation of a Legislative Instrument during the current Parliament session, intending to restrict the export of bauxite in its raw form.
Additionally, President Akufo-Addo disclosed that the government is in the final stages of negotiations for the establishment of a $450 million refinery to process the locally produced manganese.
