On Tuesday, February 27, in Mali, a tragic incident occurred near the western town of Kenieba, resulting in the death of at least 31 individuals as a bus veered off a bridge over a river, according to the transportation ministry.
Additionally, 10 people sustained injuries, raising concerns about a potential increase in the casualty count.
The bus was on its way to Burkina Faso when the accident happened at approximately 5:00 pm local time, as reported by the transport ministry.
The statement from the ministry indicated that both Malians and individuals from other parts of the West African subregion were among the victims.
The official statement attributed the probable cause of the incident to the driver’s inability to control the vehicle.
