Rev. Lawrence Tetteh, the Founder and President of Worldwide Miracle Outreach, has voiced distress over the transformation of his birthplace into what he describes as a ‘notorious’ neighborhood for homosexuals. Born in Accra’s James Town, predominantly inhabited by the Gas, the religious leader expressed his concerns during an interview on GTV’s morning show.
He lamented the current state of James Town, referring to it as a “mess,” attributing this to the open endorsement and practice of various LGBTQ+ activities by residents, despite the potential consequences. Rev. Tetteh questioned the imposition of LGBTQ+ values on children and the perceived threat it poses to the nation’s moral fabric.
Rev. Lawrence Tetteh’s remarks came in response to the international community’s efforts to promote LGBTQ+ acceptance in Ghana. With the recent passing of the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill (commonly known as the Anti-LGBTQ+ bill) on February 28, 2024, there has been disapproval from the international community. Concerns have been raised about potential economic repercussions should President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo assent to the bill.
