Bishop Sam Owusu has criticized Ghanaians for showing more reverence to pastors from abroad than to their local clergy.
This reproach comes in the wake of a visit by Nigerian online pastor Jerry Eze to Ghana, where a large crowd attended his event.
Expressing his dismay at the situation, Owusu took to the pulpit to address his fellow countrymen, stating, “I am genuinely surprised at the level of hypocrisy among Ghanaians. We seem to lack respect, honor, and love for our own people. We demonstrate more enthusiasm in celebrating foreigners rather than our local counterparts. Unfortunately, the reciprocal isn’t true, as foreigners don’t extend the same level of celebration to Ghanaians.
“Observing how Ghanaian members and Christians fervently follow Nigerian pastors and hold Nigerian men of God in higher regard than even our own Ghanaian pastors, it raises concerns.
“This trend is contributing to the unfortunate circumstance where we undermine and even harm our own prophets and men of God. It’s disheartening to witness this apparent lack of acknowledgment for the anointed men of God within our own country.”
