A Ghanaian chef’s endeavor to set a new world record for the longest cooking marathon faced a setback as it failed to comply with the rules established by the Guinness World Records.
Chef Failatu, as part of her team, acknowledged on Sunday that a breach of the rest break regulations led to the unsuccessful attempt to break the record.
The Records Management Team released a statement pointing out the violation, as conveyed by Kafui Dey, the team coordinator.
In January, Chef Failatu’s ambitious undertaking stirred widespread enthusiasm in Ghana, as she seemed to surpass the record by cooking continuously for over 227 hours.
The cook-athon garnered support from various sectors, including public figures, politicians, celebrities, and even the Ghanaian military.
Notably, the previous record holder was Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, who secured the title in June, only to be surpassed shortly after by Irish chef Alan Fisher, exceeding her record by more than 24 hours.
