President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has unveiled a plan to distribute Smart Tablets to 1.3 million Senior High School (SHS) students across the nation. The announcement came during the launch of the Ghana Smart Schools Project in Accra on Monday.
The initiative aims to provide students under the free SHS policy with crucial technological resources, aligning with the government’s commitment to leveraging technology to advance education.
President Akufo-Addo also revealed plans for the construction of approximately 100 smart SHSs nationwide within the next two years, with the goal of enhancing the learning environment and educational opportunities for students.
Under the Ghana Smart Schools Project, each SHS student will receive an educational tablet equipped with digital content to facilitate research, teaching, and learning activities. Additionally, discounted tablets and laptops will be provided to students and lecturers at the tertiary level to support academic endeavors.
President Akufo-Addo emphasized that the government’s efforts in education, including the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy, will be further enhanced through digitalization, enabling a seamless online and offline teaching and learning experience.
Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing education despite economic challenges. He assured that no child would be left behind and emphasized the importance of investing in education to build a resilient economy.
Dr. Adutwum highlighted the significance of visionary leadership in addressing economic challenges while prioritizing the establishment of a strong educational foundation for future generations.
