American rapper and producer Ja Rule, accompanied by his wife and team, has made his way to Ghana. Their arrival on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, marks the commencement of a meaningful initiative: the groundbreaking for a classroom block at Nuaso Anglican Primary School in collaboration with Pencils of Promise.
The rapper had previously hinted at his plans to visit the West African country in a tweet on X.
While the primary purpose of their visit is to initiate the construction of the classroom block, Ja Rule, his wife, and their team took the opportunity to explore the historic Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park & Mausoleum in Accra, Ghana.
Situated in Accra, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Mausoleum serves as the final resting place of Ghana’s inaugural President and Africanist. The park features a museum housing rare artifacts related to Ghana’s independence, providing visitors with an extensive insight into the Sub-Saharan struggle for liberation.
Designed by Don Arthur, the mausoleum houses the mortal remains of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and his wife, Fathia Nkrumah, symbolizing peace with its upside-down sword motif, significant in Akan culture.
Adorned entirely with Italian marble, the mausoleum showcases a black star atop, representing unity. Inside, visitors encounter marble flooring and a miniature mastaba-like marble grave marker, encircled by river-washed rocks.
From 2021 to 2023, the park underwent redevelopment to honor the late Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah more befittingly. The revamped site boasts expanded facilities, including a museum, a presidential library, a refurbished mausoleum, a mini amphitheater, a restaurant, a new audio-visual fountain, a gift shop, and an upgraded reception area, among other enhancements.
