Mr. Ibu’s Burial Date Announced, Set for June 28th
The family of the late veteran Nollywood comic actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, has revealed that his burial will take place on June 28th in his hometown of Amuri, located in the Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
This information was disclosed in the burial arrangements released by the family on Saturday, jointly signed by Elder Sunday Okafor (Mr. Ibu’s elder brother) and Mr. Ibu’s immediate family.
In their statement, the family highlighted Mr. Ibu’s significant contributions to his home community, Enugu State, and Africa as a whole during his lifetime. They expressed their desire to honor his memory and legacy of love, laughter, and liveliness during the burial ceremony.
The burial events will span five days, commencing on Tuesday, June 25th, with a high-profile novelty match, followed by “Mr. Ibu’s Night” on Wednesday, June 26th, featuring a candlelight procession and live entertainment. A Christian Wake-Keep will be held on June 27th, and the funeral service will take place on June 28th.
The burial committee, chaired by Hon. Monday Diamond Ani, includes several notable members such as Dame Ugochi Madueke, Hon Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Enugu State, Mr. Emeka Rollas, National President Actors Guild of Nigeria, Nkem Owoh, Patience Ozokwor, Steve Ebo “Ajibo,” and others.
