Actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, was apprehended by police at the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Manhyia Divisional Police Command shortly after being discharged from the hospital.
This arrest followed a recent accident involving a vehicle he was driving, which tragically resulted in the death of a three-year-old boy. The deceased boy’s family has been outspoken in their demands for justice.
The police attributed the delay in his arrest to his ill health. After being discharged from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Lil Win was transported to the police station in a police vehicle.
Details about the accident and Lil Win’s role in it have not been fully disclosed by the police, but he was taken into custody as the investigation continues. Despite sustaining a head injury, evidenced by a bandage, Lil Win attended his movie premiere on the day of the accident. However, after his arrest, he was seen sitting in a wheelchair.
His management later issued a press statement to update Ghanaians on the accident, but the statement was widely criticized for being insensitive to the bereaved family.
The police have faced criticism for allegedly giving Lil Win preferential treatment due to his social status.
