Ghana’s capital, Accra, witnessed a major demonstration on Saturday as civil society groups rallied to protest ongoing power shortages.

The protest, strategically timed to coincide with dusk when many parts of the city experience electricity cuts, temporarily halted traffic on the usually busy Madina Road.

The demonstration was spearheaded by actress Yvonne Nelson and included a coalition of civil society organizations, entertainers, and business owners. They marched to demand that the government find a permanent solution to the persistent energy crisis.
