Despite the socio-economic challenges, young members of the governing New Patriotic Party continue to witness the extravagance of the administration’s officials, who charter private jets at $20,000 per hour for trips that could have been made using the Falcon executive jet, according to former President John Mahama.
During his ‘Mahama Conversations’ live broadcast on social media, the flagbearer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress noted that the Minister of Defense justified this by saying the jet “had no shower for a presidential bath.”
Mahama also highlighted the experiences of Ghana’s youth, mentioning how “a minister could stash millions of dollars in her home,” and suggested that the extent of taxpayer money hidden by others is unknown.
He assured the public, “But I say to the good people of Ghana that, working with Ghanaians and international anti-corruption partners, we shall do all that is humanly possible to retrieve such wrongly acquired wealth.”
