President Tinubu joked about his fall at Eagles Square in Abuja on Wednesday morning, June 12. While climbing the parade vehicle during Democracy Day celebrations, he missed a step and fell. A video of the incident circulated on social media, leading to some Nigerians mocking him.

In response to the mockery, President Tinubu quipped that the fall was his way of prostrating in respect to Nigeria for its 25 years of uninterrupted democracy. Referring to the fall as his ‘swagger,’ the President said:

“Early this morning, I had a swagger moment which is now on social media. People are confused about whether I was doing the Buga dance or Babariga. But it was a day to celebrate democracy, and I was doing dobale (prostration) for the occasion. As a traditional Yoruba man, I did my dobale (prostration).”
