The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has lifted the visa restrictions on Nigerians effective immediately, according to Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.
Speaking to State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting led by President Bola Tinubu, Idris announced that the Federal Government and UAE authorities have agreed to remove the travel restrictions on Nigerians.
Consequently, Nigerian passport holders can now travel to the UAE without any hindrance.
He said, “Today an agreement has been reached with the UAE effective from today July 15, Nigerian passport holders intending to travel to UAE can do so.”
It is worth recalling that the UAE imposed the visa ban on Nigeria due to various diplomatic disputes.
Additionally, Dubai’s Emirates airline had suspended flight operations to Nigeria because the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was unable to remit an estimated $85 million in revenue to the UAE.
